Want to Build a Family History Legacy Book

Monday Morning Mentions

Monday Morning Mentions at the Armchair Genealogists is an opportunity to reflect on what has been happening at the Armchair Genealogist this past week and give a nod to some of my peers who captured my attention in the blogging community.

If you want to see what ranked in my Google Reader this week click, Google Reader Highlights

You can also find me on Facebook. Stop by and leave a message. I often will link some great finds there as well.
At the Armchair Genealogist this week, posts included the following:

A Letter to My Younger Self - A reflection on what I wish I knew way back when.
Tuesday’s Tip – Tame Your Magazine Mountain - We all have them, some ideas on what to do with yours!
Top Ten #Hashtags for Genealogists - Using twitter to keep in touch with your favourite genealogists.
New Irish Records – Ships Passenger Lists - New Irish records don't come around too often, so I'm quick to share.
Family Recipe Friday – Marguerita Pizza - my recipe and reflection on some of the best Italian pizza EVER!

Each week I’m choosing four blogs that deserve a shout out, they will be in the form of 4 categories, Internet Genealogy, Family History Writing, a New Blog and a blog that posted a great old-fashioned family recipe.

Internet Genealogy – a great genealogy or internet tip that will benefit any armchair genealogist
This week’s mention:
Telling Their Tale – The Stories of My Ancestors post on Start With What You Know is a great reminder to us all and a good tip for beginners and beautifully laid out with sheets and charts.

Writing Your Family History – great advice or information on writing your family history
This week’s mention:

New Genealogy Blog – we will tip our hat to a newcomer who impresses us right out of the box
This week’s mention:
Sharing Their Stories has a beautiful blog, and she is a girl after my own heart, she loves the stories behind the documents.
Family Recipe - a blog that makes us want to eat, and offers up a great old-fashioned family recipe to share on Family Recipe Friday.
This week's mention:
TJL Gene's : Preserving Our Family History always offers up some great recipes and always with an interesting family tale to accompany it. This week Banana Salad  and it sounds yummy!

You can find more newcomers at Thomas' list of New Genealogy Blogs at Geneabloggers.  For other great reads Randy at Genea-Musings offers the Best of the Genea-Blogs and Greta’s Genealogy Bog offers Follow Friday Newsletter each week, click here for this week’s edition.

Thanks for turning us on to new bloggers and highlights of those who've been around for a while. I'd love to visit more blogs -- but then run out of time. What's your secret (and Greta and Randy do this so well too) for getting to others' blogs in a way that allows you to read many and get all the other work of life done? How do you organize yourself to get to many (there are about 2,000 genealogy blogs now. I have many in Google Reader, but can't possibly get to them all). I try to rotate to get to as many as possible over a period of time. How do you approach it?

ahh...Linda, your reading my mind, just working on a couple of posts about managing this very thing. I floundered with it for quite awhile but I use a couple of tools now that really help keep me organized. Stay tuned.
